Four teenagers were arrested by police after they allegedly went on a cross country joy ride with a vehicle they took from a Dalby home.

A Queensland Police spokesman said a Toyota HiLux utility was allegedly stolen from a Besley Street address on Wednesday.

He said the car was recovered a day later about 8.30pm along Coolibah Road in Bungil, just south of Roma.

The spokesman said four 15-year-old boys were arrested on Thursday and Friday in relation to the alleged theft.

All boys were charged with the unlawful use of a motor vehicle, while another was charged with driving without a licence, and one more was charged with entering a premises to commit an offence.

They were all taken into custody and appeared in Dalby Children’s Court on Friday.

This incident comes as Chinchilla deals with a spike in car thefts and break ins, with two vehicles stolen on Thursday evening, and another taken on Saturday night.
