It’s the final weekend of school holidays and there is still plenty more fun to be had for Dalby families this weekend.
From an exciting exhibition that uses video art to a family-fun fishing competition for NAIDOC week, the region is the perfect place for epic family adventures.
Gallery of Modern Art touring exhibitions
Whether you’re a huge art lover or simply enjoy doing something new, the Gallery of Modern Art touring exhibition will have something for you.
The people behind GOMA have invited the Western Downs region to view their two exhibitions officially opening this weekend, Asia Pacific Contemporary: Three Decades of APT, and Asia Pacific Video.
Asia Pacific Contemporary
The exhibition will include varied forms of art such as sculptures, videos, paintings and works on paper from a range of countries including Australia, New Zealand, Cambodia, China and more.
The official opening is 6:30pm Friday, and the exhibition will run until August 20.

Asia Pacific Video
The Western Downs region will have contemporary art delivered to its doorstep, as artists in this exhibition have embraced video art and produced a range of “critical, humorous and magical insights” through the touring exhibition.
Asia Pacific Video is open now until September 2, and the official opening is Saturday.

Drama Festival
Dalby Players Little Theatre will host the fun-filled 2022 South East Queensland Drama Festival.
The festival is a chance to showcase the region’s emerging artists in a night of family entertainment.
Those who are interested in attending can register here for a session.

NAIDOC Fishing Comp
Residents still have time to drop a line and catch a mighty fish for the final weigh-in for Chinchilla’s NAIDOC Fishing Competition.
Sunday is the community’s last chance to participate in the competition, which offers a sausage sizzle and games on the day.

Lake Broadwater
Take a trip to Lake Broadwater, southwest of Dalby, and enjoy all sorts of fun outdoor activities by the glistening waters.
The lake is an ideal camping spot and was upgraded in 2021 with swings, fire pits, shelters, camp kitchens and barbecues, toilets and a boat ramp.

Bunya Mountains
The Bunya Mountains, located 45 minutes northeast of Dalby, has a wide range of fun activities available for the family.
There are myriad tracks and bushwalks for all fitness levels, which means everyone from the family can join in.
A cafe and accommodation is available for those who want to stay longer and make the most out of their experience.

Dalby Golf Course
Whether you’re a golfing pro or are simply looking for an outdoor activity, the Dalby Golf Park is perfect to have a swing and something to eat and drink.
Battle the family in a friendly competition of golf, where you can unwind and visit the cafe afterwards.
