A Chinchilla man has thanked his beloved pooch for helping him become an overnight millionaire after adding his dog’s birthday into his lottery numbers.
The Western Downs local held one of two division one winning entries in the Weekday Windfall drawn on Friday with him and another unnamed Queenslander taking home $1m each.
In a The Lott press release he said he planned on spoiling his pup, who he credits with the exciting win.
“Thank you so much,” he said.
“I’m thanking my dog because if I hadn’t changed my regular numbers to include his birthday, I wouldn’t have won.
“He’s already spoiled but he’ll be getting extra spoiled now.
“I checked my ticket Friday night, and I was like ‘what? This can’t be right’. I was up all night after that.
“My wife didn’t believe me, so she got a good sleep-in, when she finally realised I wasn’t joking, she actually threw up.
“The whole weekend I couldn’t take my mind off it. Now that it’s confirmed, I can finally let it sink in.
“It’s more than exciting, it’s phenomenal.”
The Chinchilla man said he planned to use his new-found fortune to enter into the homeowner’s market and treat him and his wife to a long-awaited holiday.
“We haven’t been on a holiday in years so that would be great to finally go somewhere and have a break,” he said.
“We can buy a house too. We’re renting so this is going to help so much.
“With the rest we can invest.
“Of course, once we’re less overwhelmed, we can go out to dinner to celebrate.”
