A group of Roma residents have been charged over an alleged crime spree across the Dalby community where homes have been broken into and valuable items stolen.

Dalby police officer-in-charge Terry McCullough said a 20-year-old Roma man and two juveniles allegedly broke into homes on Joel Court and Vanessa Drive.

It is further alleged they stole a vehicle from Vanessa Drive and drove it five hours to Morven, where police arrested the trio.

They were each charged with four counts of breaking and entering, four counts of unlawful use of a motor vehicle and two counts of robbery.

The arrests come after Dalby residents were warned to be on high alert due to a huge spike in break-ins and thefts that carried on for almost three weeks.

“Someone usually comes into town and runs hot until we catch them,” Senior Sergeant McCullough said.

He added that since the arrests a bulk of the break-ins had stopped.

“It won’t stop all break-ins though so we encourage people to still lock their doors and windows,” he said.

The 20-year-old Roma man is set to appear before Charleville Magistrates Court on July 5 and the two juveniles will appear before Charleville Children’s Court on July 7.
