A Salisbury community soccer club is reviewing security measures after change rooms were allegedly raided, and a club member’s car taken during a match last weekend.
The Salisbury Villa Soccer Club alleges a person walked straight past officials and into their change rooms before several valuables were reported missing.
Shianne Douglas Craig on Tuesday did not enter a plea in the Port Adelaide Magistrates Court to charges of unlawful possession, which police say relate to property taken from a Salisbury sports club, as well as failing to comply with a bail agreement.
Mr Craig, of no fixed address, did not apply for bail.
Police said the unlawful possession allegations related to thefts at a community club about 9pm on Friday night – an incident they are still investigating.
“Police are investigating the theft of property from change rooms at a Salisbury sporting club about 9pm on Friday 6 May,” a police spokesperson said.
“A black Audi sedan was also stolen and recovered on Monday 9 May at Alan Crescent, Burton.
“(On Monday), while investigating an unrelated incident, a 28-year-old man was arrested and charged with unlawful possession of some of the stolen bank cards and investigations are continuing in relation to other property stolen.”
The change rooms were part of another theft where a phone was stolen from an opposition player and was again subject of a car theft about two years ago.
A spokesman for Salisbury Villa said they were disheartened to learn possessions had gone missing during last Friday night’s fixture.
“We don’t like it,” they said.
“We’ll now have to look at it and change our procedures to make things more secure.”
