The past year has seen a number of business pop up over the region, with Dalby residents offering great services to locals and help boost community spirit, create safe spaces for people to gather, and bring unique experiences to town.

Whether it be a new cafe, gym or childcare centre, Dalby has opened its arms to a range of businesses this past year and we shine a light on those who have opened their doors for residents recently.

Coffee Consult

A former police officer traded her badge for the coffee machine in July last year after she renovated and opened a new home-style cafe in Dalby.

Kim Thomas was an officer for 13 years and moved to Dalby three years ago for a change of pace.

It was while in her new hometown she was presented with the opportunity to pursue her true passion and open Coffee Consult.

The cafe offers coffee that makes a difference in the community as their provided coffee beans, Wolff Coffee Roasters donates funds and services to Women’s Legal Services Queensland.

“We love them because they donate a lot back to the community and donate to domestic violence,” Mrs Thomas.

The cafe is located at 3-37 North St and open Monday to Fridays from 7am to 4pm.

Evergreen Pilates

A dairy farmer and former Oakey resident traded in the work boots for active wear as she approached the opening date of Dalby fitness studio, which was in February 2023, Evergreen pilates.

Kristen Ehrlich who moved to a farm in Kulpi more than 10 years ago, began her instructing journey after being inspired by one of her own pilates teachers while living in Toowoomba.

“I got married and moved to a farm which was a very big adjustment,” she said.

“I decided I wanted to do something for myself, (and) it would be great to learn how to instruct so 10 years ago I did a pilates instructor course and qualified to begin teaching classes.”

People can find the studio at 133 Cunningham St and is open on Mondays.

Snap Fitness

Dalby’s newest gym cemented itself as a major part of town after confirming multiple deals with local businesses and offered ‘fresh’ equipment and services to fitness lovers.

Snap operations manager Ashleigh Dyson revealed the equipment, services and features the modern gym will offer, and how the community has been receiving the news.

“Whether you’re into functional training or traditional strength training, and if you like to try other training we have fitness group,” she said.

She said the main factors that members favour is the 24/7 global access, the sauna and crèche.

The gym is located near Coffee Club on Archibald St.

Cafe 63

An iconic franchise announced it would open a new cafe in the heart of Dalby, delighting the region’s biggest caffeine lovers.

Cafe 63, named after its first ever location at 63 Racecourse Rd in Hamilton, opened a new cafe in the Dalby Shoppingworld food court.

The brand has more than 40 stores across Brisbane and will offer breakfast, lunch and dinner options for customers.

A former Toowoomba woman who now calls Dalby home, Sarah Courtney, said she was confident to open their doors to 22 children in February this year.

“We had a ‘Stay and Play’ (Wednesday) morning, and it went really well,” she said.

“It’s like a bulk tour of the place rather than having each kid come through and we showed them where to put their bag and where they can play.”

In August this year the business owner was nominated in a national awards competition for her work as a childcare worker.

The daycare is located at 129 Bunya St.

New barbershop owner, Jami Austin revealed that the partnership with another local business GM Tattoos Dalby owned by Graham Moore will bring a “unique” and “safe space” to the region.

“I think Dalby needs something that’s a bit different, it’s not your generic hairdressing salon, but a space for guys and kids to come which is exciting. They will get to see Graham tattooing, along with the different artwork that’s hanging up, it’s a unique experience.

“A lot of people are willing to pay for that different experience or go to Brisbane or the coast and are spending the big bucks at major companies.”

The barbershop is located at 9/66 Drayton St and is open Tuesdays to Saturdays from 10am to 5:30pm.
