Brett Knecht: Truckie killed in horror Bowenville crash identified
The truck driver killed in a horror highway crash near Toowoomba has been remembered as a much-loved father and friend.

The truck driver who was tragically killed in a horror highway crash at Bowenville has been identified as a loving father from the Darling Downs.
Brett Knecht, 45, died after the truck he was driving collided with a car near Oakleigh Park Road on the Warrego Highway.
As a result of the collision, the truck left the road and crashed into a pole. Mr Knecht died at the scene.
Friends have taken to social media to remember the well-loved Nobby based truckie.
Maree Oberhardt described Mr Knecht as “much loved and respected”.
“(He) was such a good and decent man, my heart breaks for his wife Deb and son Cameron and daughter, I hope everyone takes a minute in respect for Brett because he truly deserves it,” she wrote.
“He was delivering freight for us to keep Australia moving. RIP Beefy, you‘ve earned your wings, you will be truly missed.”
Jayden Pooley also shared a tribute for his good mate.
“My heart breaks for his family, I hope everyone takes a minute for Brett Knecht, he was delivering freight to keep Australia alive,” Jayden said.
“You have now grown your wings you will be truly missed, R.I.P I love ya buddy never forgotten.”
The 22-year-old driver of the Holden Astra involved in the incident also died at the scene.
The grieving family of young Hervey Bay crash victim Maidie Page also paid tribute to her, taking to social media to share their shock and grief at the loss of their beloved sister, cousin and friend.
“As some of you know, yesterday we lost our big sister Maidie Page due to an accident,” a post from Abina Page read.
“Our hearts ache losing our big sister.
“Our family is in mourning right now and we appreciate everyone’s support in space and time to grieve.”
Police are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the incident or have dashcam footage to come forward.
