Chinchilla’s One Long Table will celebrate its 10th anniversary this year, highlighting the melting pot of cultures in the region.

The multicultural food festival to be held on September 7 will feature a variety of dishes from countries such as The Philippines, Greece, Italy, Hungary, West Africa, Thailand, India and traditional Indigenous food.

Chinchilla Community Commerce and Industry’s project and events officer Bev Stuart said the event brought the town of Chinchilla together.

“It is all about celebrating our diversity and unity and promoting Chinchilla’s liveability,” she said

“It really highlights all of the different ethnicities and cultures that are in our community and it brings everyone together, particularly this year with everyone going through a tough time with cost of living.

“This is an opportunity for families to be able to get out and be able to afford to have a nice day out with their family and friends without it costing an arm and a leg.

“Over the years attendance has skyrocketed, we are expecting more than 3000 this year and we have extended the event an extra hour for families to spend more time there.”

Ms Stuart said there would be a variety of activities on offer alongside dozens of tasty meals.

“It is free entry, free rides, free activities for the kids and the only things people will pay for is the meals and the sideshow alley,” she said.

“We have a magician, we have a giant slide, we will have a giant swing ride, we have inflatables and jumping castles, we have a bucking bull, an activities tent, free face painting and a side show alley.

“The side show alley is a new addition this year, there will be three different games kids can play, you buy a ticket it's $5 for five games and they can win prizes.

“The meal tickets are $10 each and that will buy them a serving of any savoury food available on the day.”

The free event will run from 3pm to 9pm on Heeney St with tickets available online or at the gate.

A gold coin donation to support the event is also encouraged.
