A young Central Queensland woman has faced court for being a public nuisance and headbutting a hotel security guard and chipping her teeth.

Samantha Anne McMaster, 20, appeared in Emerald Magistrates Court on November 22 and 23 for three charges.

McMaster pleaded guilty to assault occasioning bodily harm in public while adversely affected by an intoxicating substance, public nuisance in a licensed premises, and failing to leave licensed premises.

The court heard McMaster was at Tieri Brolga Hotel on October 20 where she was being a nuisance to other patrons.

Police were called at 10:10pm after McMaster headbutted the female security guard after being asked to leave several times.

The victim suffered injuries to her face and mouth.

Police said McMaster appeared intoxicated and couldn’t remember much of the assault.

She was taken to the police station and spent the night in the watch-house.

Police Prosecutor Tasman Murphy said hotel CCTV footage showed McMaster pushing a man twice “to get up in his face”.

“(McMaster) moves over to another male where another altercation was taking place (she) appears to be punching another person in the head until other people intervene to assist,” Mr Murphy said.

“CCTV also depicts staff members intervening and instructing her to leave through the front door.

“(McMaster) then gets in the face of the victim and suddenly headbutts her, causing her pain to her nose and damaged teeth.

“The victim suffered a bruised nose and also received dental work to her teeth.”

The dental repair work costed $424.50.

McMaster has since apologised for her actions.

“It’s clear that this is somewhat of a drunken rampage clouded by intoxication and is indicative of her history,” Mr Murphy said.

McMaster’s criminal history was submitted to the court, as well as letters related to her recent community service and detox.

Lawyer Kasey Wilson said this was her client’s third time in court over the past year for public nuisance offending.

Ms Wilson said McMaster’s mother was a drug addict most of her life and her father is a former alcohol who was in and out of custody since she was three.

McMaster is now living away from her mother and has a full-time job.

She was placed on probation for 18 months, fined $300 and ordered to perform 120 hours of community service.

McMaster was also ordered to pay restitution to cover her victim’s dental work.
