There is an 'absolute need' for energy and gas reform in Australia

A Central Queensland site has been proposed as the potential location of an edible oil processing facility.

Energreen Nutrition has applied to lease land at the CQ Inland Port, Yamala, for use as an oil processing facility.

The independent company is Australian owned and based in Queensland, specialising in nutrition.

Two development permits were lodged by Murray and Associates Surveyors and Town Planners in December on behalf of Energreen Nutrition.

The 8ha lot falls within an identified Special industry zone at the CQ Inland Port, and is about a 16-minute drive from the Emerald Post office.

It neighbours the Central Railway system, a cotton gin, the intermodal port, and a grain storage and handling Facility.

The proposed state-of-the-art oil refining processing plant will be capable of producing 200,000 tonnes of oil seed daily, which is equivalent to 140,000 tonnes of meal and 60,000 tonnes of oil.

The plant would be operational 24 hours a day, seven days a week but the proposal states operations would primarily occur between 6am and 6pm.

About 35 and 40 movements of heavy vehicles are expected to be the highest seen at the facility.

The oil processing plant could create 35 to 40 jobs.

A lease exceeding 10 years for the oil processing plant has been submitted to the Central Highlands Regional Council and is pending approval.
