Eidsvold crash among numerous emergencies attended by CapRescue

A man and his wife were choppered to different hospitals after they were injured when their vehicle rolled.

A 54-year-old man was injured in a one vehicle accident on the Eidsvold-Theodore Rd in West Eidsvold on Wednesday.

The man suffered abdominal and neck injuries believed to be caused by the vehicle’s restraint system and was airlifted to Rockhampton Hospital by CapRescue.

He was in a stable condition.

His wife travelling with him at the time of the accident, about 10am, was taken separately to Bundaberg Hospital by another helicopter rescue service.

The accident followed an intense few days for CapRescue.

CapRescue operations manager Kirsty Wooler said the past several days underscored the vital role of a fast, coordinated aeromedical response in regional Queensland.

“Our crew has been operating at an extraordinary pace, responding to everything from search- and-rescue operations to critical medical emergencies,” she said.

Monday, November 24

Turkey Beach

CapRescue was deployed to investigate an active EPIRB signal over water near Turkey Beach at around 3.30pm.

After a 1.4-hour search, two people were located safely onshore after being rescued by nearby fishermen.

No medical assistance was required.

Biloela

An 81-year-old man experiencing suspected stroke symptoms was flown from Biloela to Rockhampton Hospital at 6.30pm in a stable condition.

Sunday, November 23

Dingo

Rescue300 took two people to Rockhampton Hospital at 7.20am using a dual-stretcher configuration after a two-vehicle crash on the Capricorn Highway near Dingo.

A 52-year-old man from the Northern Territory, was declared dead at the scene.

His passenger, a 47-year-old woman also from Northern Territory, was treated at the scene and taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the Landcruiser, a 38-year-old man, and his passenger, a 10-year-old boy, were also treated at the scene and taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Raglan

A man was flown to Bundaberg after a light plane crash in the Raglan area at 10.02am.

Rescue533 then took the man to Brisbane for specialist care.

Yeppoon

A man in his 60s was found unconscious in a pool and was intubated before being flown to Rockhampton Hospital in a serious but stable condition.

Saturday, November 22

Lowmead

A man in his 30s was flown to Bundaberg Hospital with suspected leg and pelvic following a fall from his motorbike.
