One dead in Capricorn Highway horror crash
A fatal collision on the Capricorn Highway has killed an interstate traveller, as emergency services treat three others, including a 10-year-old boy.
One man is dead following a two-vehicle crash on the Capricorn Highway, west of Dingo.
Emergency services responded to a vehicle crash on the Capricorn Highway and Ellesmere Road just after 7am, a Queensland Police Service spokeswoman said.
Initial investigations indicate a grey Toyota Landcruiser and a white Toyota RAV4 collided.
The driver of the RAV4, a 52-year-old man from the Northern Territory, was declared dead at the scene.
His passenger, a 47-year-old woman also from Northern Territory, was treated at the scene and taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The driver of the Landcruiser, a 38-year-old man, and his passenger, a 10-year-old boy, were also treated at the scene and taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Injuries suffered by those who survived included limb, chest and abdominal injuries, a Queensland Ambulance Service spokesman said.
The QAS spokesman said a man in his 30s escaped injury.
Two fire crews attended the scene, a Queensland Fire Department spokeswoman said.
Investigations are ongoing and police are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the crash to come forward.
In other crash news, a bus and car collided on the Capricorn Highway just after 7am near Blackwater, a QPS spokeswoman said, adding there were only minor injuries.
