A person has had to be winched from the bottom of an embankment after they fell up to 40 metres from a popular lookout.

Paramedics were called to Round Hill Lookout off Boles Street in West Gladstone at 4.30am on Sunday.

By 6.30, two vert-rescue firefighters were set up to assist with the rescue which took up to an hour to retrieve the patient who was found more than 40 metres down the cliff.

They were placed onto a stretcher and were winched to safety.

Their condition is unknown at this time.

In February this year, a teen suffered serious head injuries after he fell from the lookout prompting a lengthy rescue.

He soon made a recovery and was discharged from Gladstone Hospital later that month.
