Central Highlands Council holds NAIDOC Week celebrations at Emerald

Central Highlands community members and leaders gathered at Emerald on Monday in celebration of NAIDOC Week.
Emergency services personnel, Central Highlands Regional Council and Indigenous elders were joined for the NAIDOC march and flag raising ceremony followed by a morning tea and cake cutting at the council building.
Attendees reflected on this year's NAIDOC theme - Heal Country! - and celebrated the rich history, diverse cultures and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people as the oldest continuing cultures on the planet.
Celebrations continue on Friday with the Many Mobs Family Fun Day from 10am to 2pm at the Emerald Botanic Gardens.
There will be rides, stalls, tie-dye, painting, workshops and more at the free community event.
CHRC will host a march at Blackwater on July 30 from 9.30am at Rotary Park, followed by a flag-raising ceremony at Lions Park at 10.30am.
