Man escapes van after it crashes into North Burnett’s Boyne River

A man has made a dramatic escape from his van after it careened off a regional Queensland bridge and into the Boyne River on Friday afternoon.

A man has made a dramatic escape from his van after it careened off a bridge and landed in the Boyne River about 150km west of Maryborough.

Emergency crews were called to the scene on Reinke’s Rd, at Derri Derra and near Beeron, shortly before 3pm on Friday.

It is understood the driver of the van called triple-0.

A QAS spokeswoman said initial reports were he escaped the vehicle, submerged to the bottom of its windows, by breaking a window and crawling out.

No injuries were reported from the scene.
