Three Bundaberg hockey players will fly to Tasmania in July where they will pull on the Queensland jersey for the first time.
Following a smashing win at the Queensland Under 18 State Championships on the weekend of May 6 and 7, the boys were selected for the Queensland Team.

After a slow start to the game where they ceded the first goal, manager Gavin Pegg said the team rallied to take out the dominant win.
He said a series of yellow cards and benched players played a part in the win, but backed his team‘s effort.
As the father of Damon, he said he was thrilled to see his son selected to play at a national level.
“It’s a really good feeling, he was selected for the Northern Territory team last year but is keen to pull on the Queensland jersey this year,” he said.
However, the boys will face their own difficulties when it comes to preparing for the national event.
Many of the other team members are based in or around Brisbane, meaning the Bundaberg boys are somewhat isolated from weekly training events.
Mr Pegg credited the coaching staff for the Queensland team however, and said the boys had been given the tools and opportunity to train alongside the team even from a distance.
Damon agreed while the distance could have an impact he was already planning and upping his training for the national championship event.
“You know what the competition is going to be like, you know where you have to be with your fitness and your game to play with the best in Australia,” he said.
