Seven fire crews called to truck fire on Goodwood Rd at Alloway

Seven fire crews attended a truck fire in Bundaberg this afternoon after its load of white goods and cars caught fire.

A truck carrying cars and white goods caught fire on Goodwood Rd near the corner of Alex Walker Rd at Alloway just after midday, closing the northbound lane.

Seven Queensland Fire and Emergency Services and Rural Fire crews attended the scene, the first arriving about 12.20pm, and found the trailer of the truck was well involved in fire.

The fire was contained to the trailer of the truck, with the driver and the cab of the vehicle believed to have escaped unharmed.

An excavator was used to help remove material from the trailer in order to completely extinguish it.

A Queensland Fire and Emergency Service spokeswoman said the fire was listed as extinguished by 2.40pm, but two crews remained on site.

Queensland Police attended the scene and directed traffic while the northbound lane was closed.

Queensland Ambulance Service also attended as a precautionary measure, but were not required.
