Bundaberg home destroyed by flames

An electrical fault that started in a bedroom is believed to have been the possible cause of a blaze that destroyed a single-storey timber Queenslander in Bundaberg on Sunday.

The Bundaberg NewsMail understands the occupant of the Hunter St home in the Walkervale suburb was out at the time and had managed to get back and get his pets to safety before the home became fully engulfed.

A spokesman for the Queensland Fire and Emergency Services said six lots of QFES resources were deployed.

Bundaberg police, the Queensland Ambulance Service and Ergon were also in attendance.

The blaze was contained to the home and came under control at 1.04pm after initially being reported at 11.43am.

No one was harmed in the fire.
