Corey Kurtzer’s life was tragically cut short at the age of 19 when he died in a car crash on the Bruce Hwy at Booyal.

Police have charged 25-year-old Millbank man Keegan Gregory Mccann with manslaughter following their investigations into the crash that caused the death of Apple Tree Creek teen Corey Kurtzer.

Corey, 19, was tragically killed at Booyal on August 13 when the Holden Commodore he was a passenger in lost its rear passenger-side tyre, left the road and rolled into a drainage ditch at the intersection of Adies Road and the Bruce Highway.

A 25-year-old man was denied police bail when the charges were laid on Monday, and he appeared in Bundaberg Magistrates Court on Tuesday.

Social media pages were flooded with condolences and tributes to Corey in the wake of the fatal crash, with those who knew him speaking highly of his character.

One of the three other people in the vehicle was taken to Bundaberg Hospital with a leg injury at the time.

As investigations into the matter continue, Police have renewed their appeal for any truck drivers or other motorists who were in the vicinity of the Bruce Highway near Adies Road between 5.50pm and 6.15pm on Wednesday August 13, and are yet to have been interviewed by police, to come forward.

Police are particularly interested to speak to anyone who might have dashcam footage of, or witnessed the crash or the moments leading up to it, including those who might have witnessed the manner in which the Commodore was being driven at the time.
