Lydia Rita Lauch charged with wounding, public assault in Bundaberg court

A woman accused of a number of violent offences was denied bail and will remain in custody with her most serious charge requiring a higher court.

A Bundaberg woman accused of a violent wounding attack will remain behind bars as she awaits her day in court.

Lydia Rita Lauch appeared in Bundaberg Magistrates Court on Tuesday where she faced a string of charges.

Ms Lauch is accused of one count each of breaching bail, wounding (domestic violence offence), common assault in a public place while intoxicated, common assault (domestic violence offence), possessing dangerous drugs and receiving tainted property.

She also faces two charges of failing to properly dispose of a needle or syringe and two counts of fraud.

Ms Lauch was told the most serious charge of wounding would need to move to a higher court.

Magistrate John McInnes remanded the accused in custody, noting she had been refused on a prior application for bail.

Ms Launch’s case was adjourned in order for assistance from Legal Aid to be organised.

She will remain in custody and appear by videolink at her next mention in March.
