The identity of a man accused of trying to procure a child for sexual abuse has been revealed in Bundaberg Magistrates Court.

A man accused of attempting to procure a child under the age of 16 for sexual abuse has had his case mentioned in Bundaberg Magistrates Court.

Cameron Joseph Martin, 36, of Takilberen, did not appear and did not apply for bail on Monday afternoon following his weekend arrest as part of a special task force.

He is accused of one count of grooming a child under 16 (facilitate procurement of child to engage in sexual act).

Mr Martin also faces two counts each of failing to report and possessing child exploitation material.

His lawyer Thomas Bray requested a brief of evidence ahead of the case’s next mention.

Magistrate Edwina Rowan adjourned the case for committal mention later this year.

Mr Martin is set to appear via video link on that day.

He remains in custody.
