Police charge two Bundaberg men with child sex offences

Police have released dramatic footage from the arrests of two Bundaberg men accused of multiple child sex offences, following an investigation involving a special task force.

Two Bundaberg men have been charged with multiple child sex offences following investigation by a Queensland Police Service special task force.

A 36-year-old Takilberen man and 29-year-old Oakwood man were arrested over the weekend of March 25 - 26, 2020 and have been charged with grooming a parent or carer of a child under 16 years with intent to facilitate the procurement of the child to engage in a sexual act.

The Takilberen man was also charged with possession of child exploitation material.

AÂ 36-year-old Takilberen man and a 29-year-old Oakwood man have been arrested and charged with multiple child sex offences.

The Takilberen man has been remanded in custody and will appear before the Bundaberg Magistrates Court on Monday, March 27.

The investigation started in February after information from the public identified a man allegedly using an online classified platform to seek children for sex.

The matter was referred to Argos who engaged online operatives to identify the offender.

Investigations identified two men who allegedly engaged with Argos Detectives online where they arranged to meet and access a child for sex.

The Oakwood man has been released on strict bail conditions and will appear before the Bundaberg Magistrates Court on April 14.

A QPS spokesperson confirmed that the two men are not associates and were arrested separately under the same police operation.

“Everything you do online leaves a trace and the QPS will leave no stone unturned to target those who seek to sexually exploit children online,” said Detective Inspector Glen Donaldson of the Child Abuse and Sexual Crime Group’s unit Argos.
