Paramedics winched down to man after 15m fall at Mt Walsh

Emergency crews have winched down to rescue a man who fell 15 metres down a rocky face at Mt Walsh after his personal beacon was activated.

A young man’s fall down a rocky cliff face has sparked a major rescue operation 230km northwest of Brisbane.

Initial reports indicate a young adult male sustained injuries after he fell 15m while hiking near Biggenden on Sunday afternoon.

About 11.30pm Queensland Police responded to an emergency activation of a personal beacon at Mt Walsh National Park.

Paramedics attended the scene near Bennetts Rd about 12.15pm.

A spokeswoman for Queensland Ambulance Services said as of 2.30pm, paramedics had been winched down to the man who had sustained injuries in the fall.

A spokesman for Queensland Fire Department said one crew remained on scene and were assisting paramedics and police.

A rescue helicopter is en route.

QAS was unable to provide an update on the man’s condition.
