A home north east of Gympie has been ravaged by a fast moving inferno that took emergency crews hours to contain.

Six emergency fire and rescue crews raced to the Cooloola Cove property before midday on Saturday.

Upon their arrival about 11.20am, the small shed-like structure was completely involved in flames.

A spokesman for Queensland Fire Services said a fridge inside the property was determined as the cause of the fire.

The Investigator Ave home had a tin roof and was ripped apart in minutes.

“The fire spread quite a bit,” he said.

A spokeswoman for Queensland Ambulance Services said multiple patients were assessed.

One woman in her 50s sustained minor burns, while another woman suffered smoke inhalation.

Both declined transport to hospital.

Online, the home owners daughter said her mother was lucky to escape.

She said her mother had lost everything in the blaze that destroyed their family home.

Crews finally put out the fire at about 2.20pm and remained on scene due to ongoing structural risks.
