Mt Tom fire spreads along Fingerboard Rd as crews battle blaze

What started as a fire on the side of the road west of Agnes Water and Baffle Creek has grown into a bushfire stretching several kilometres.

Fire crews were on Monday fighting a bushfire along Fingerboard Road at Mt Tom, west of Baffle Creek and Agnes Water.

A Queensland Fire and Emergency Services spokesman said the blaze initially spread over 4-5km.

By mid morning it was burning ab0ut 20km west of Baffle Creek and 120km north of Bundaberg.

As of 10am, a Queensland Police Service spokeswoman confirmed there were no road closures in place.

The QFES spokesman said the fire’s southwest and northern edges were under control, while crews continued to try to contain flames to the east.

No structures were at risk.
