Bundaberg is set to have another airline servicing the Bundy to Brisbane route.
Link Airways has announced that from November 14, direct flights between the cities will start operating from Bundaberg Airport over six days a week.
A statement from the company revealed the flights would start at $186 each way.
The company says its flights will include a full, in-flight service from its cabin crew, including hot and cold drinks and “premium” snacks.
The Australian owned and operated airline will run Saab340B Plus aircraft for the flights.
The Saab 340 is a Swedish twin-engine turboprop aircraft designed and initially produced by Saab AB and Fairchild Aircraft, and will be a point of difference for travellers, with Qantas operating Dash-8 aircraft.
The Saab is designed to seat 30 to 36 passengers.
The news comes following an announcement earlier this year that airline Bonza would start operating direct flights from Bundaberg to Melbourne in 2022.
Many Bundaberg locals have called for competition in the industry, with Qantas currently being the only service running flights to Brisbane after Virgin Airlines ceased its runs in 2017.
Alliance Airlines replaced Virgin‘s services, however they too announced that flights would cease in 2020.
