There are plenty of projects proposed for the Bundaberg region with numerous development applications one step closer to being actualised with an approval from the council.

The Bundaberg Regional Council has recently given a green light to myriad different development applications; from a service station, to tool supply stores and housing units.

One of the latest approvals was to a service station and cafe project in Childers.

Construction at the 164, 166 and 168 Churchill St, Childers site is expected to start in about two to three months, with the site expected to be completed in February 2022.

This multimillion-dollar project is set to see Metro Petroleum and Stellarossa Coffee operate from the site and they’re “very excited to be in the bustling dynamic area”.

A new block of regional housing units has also been given the tick of approval by council.

A development application has been lodged with Bundaberg Regional Council for four new two-bedroom units on Woongarra St.

The NewsMail previously reported the units would be built at 140 Woongarra St with construction expected to begin at the end of the year.

According to the application, each of the proposed units would be a single storey structure with covered alfresco areas and additional open space at the rear that are fenced for privacy.

Two applications for hardware and trade supplies stores have also been green-lit by the council with Total Tools Bundaberg now open.

The other development pegged for 20 Johanna Blvd is Sydney Tools.

One of the significant developments in the pipeline for the region is the plan for a state-of-the-art aquatic centre.

A Bundaberg Regional Council spokesperson previously said the first step for the project was to complete the detailed design.

All stages are expected to be delivered in three years, with the first stage expected to cost about $30 million.

Stage 1 of the proposed works, outlined on the Our Bundaberg Region site, include: a covered FINA standard, 10 lane, 50m heated swimming pool including ramp and sling equitable access; entrance station and staff administration area; covered space for marshalling, timing and judge’s area and a cafe, open space and playground.
