Childers Show makes final preparations for 106th event
The Childers Show Society is banking on blue skies for this weekend after the “disheartening” decision was made to cancel the 2022 event.

Following cancellations due to wet weather and restrictions from Covid-19 the Childers Show Society is excited to be back bigger than ever for 2023.
The 106th show is set to kick off on Saturday, May 27 was president Chloe Johnson hopes for clear, blue skies following last year’s cancellation due to an unexpected deluge.

The committee has had a tough few years, with Covid cancelling their 2020 show, and restricting their 2021 show.

Ms Johnson said preparations have gone well for this years event, with a full day’s program ready to welcome returning competitors, stall holders and visitors.
“We are hoping for a bumper show, it’s time for us all to come together again and enjoy the Childers Show,” Ms Johnson said.
The show, though one of the smallest on the Queensland calendar, packs a punch and Ms Johnson said the society was thrilled to host the event which “unites heritage and community”.
“It’s great to finally be able to stage the show after the set back of last year,” she said.
“The Childers Show is loved by so many – it’s full of family traditions and wonderful childhood memories and we can’t wait to welcome everyone.”
There will be plenty of entertainment for the whole family, including a pet show, sideshow alley, karate demonstrations, egg throwing competition, bush Olympics, six bar, cheerleaders, fireworks and live evening entertainment.
Pavilion and ring events will also attract competitors from across the state.
The popular Crack Up Sisters will also make their return to the event.
Show tickets are the cheapest in the Wide Bay, at $10 for adults, $5 for concession and students and children under five years free.
