Bundaberg volunteers needed for Mother’s Day flower picking

Tens of thousands of flowers are waiting to be picked with Endeavour Foundation putting the call out for volunteers ahead of Mother’s Day.

70,000 Endeavour Foundation chrystaniums are waiting to be picked for this Mother’s Day.

With Mother’s Day coming up on Sunday May 14, the Endeavour Foundation is calling on the support of volunteers from the Bundaberg community to help pick, strip and bunch flowers.

Endeavour Foundation Bundaberg Social Enterprise site manager Robert Campbell said “more than 70,000 chrysanthemums are waiting to be picked, stripped, and put into 7000 bunches before mother’s day”.

“We’ve got a huge job on our hands, but as they say, ‘many hands make light work’ so please give us a call and lend your hand today,” Mr Campbell said.

“Our employees work extremely hard to make sure the mums and caregivers can receive a gorgeous bunch of Endeavour Foundation flowers each year, but we simply can’t do it without the support of the community.”

Volunteers can choose when they would like to help between now and Mother’s Day, “with your own choice of hours or whether you would like to work individually, in a group, or with friends, family, or work groups”.

Prior to volunteering, personal protective equipment and training will be provided.
