They say you should never work with kids and animals but there’s nothing quite as joyful as outtakes with gummy smiles and funny poses.

Our photographers spent time capturing prep class photos from schools across the Bundaberg region.

Naturally, not every photo worked out and here are some of the funny faces and outtakes from the journey.

Calling out “monkeys!” to Kalkie State School prep students to get their attention didn’t quite have the desired effect.

Cheeky grins, toothy smiles and exuberant poses defined the outtakes at Bundaberg East State School.

Many of the little tricks teachers tried to get focused faces didn’t go as planned, much like those tried for these Kalkie State School preps.

Sometimes bad timing (and blinking) was enough to write off a photo even though these little Bundaberg East State School students did their very best!

Perhaps it was a risky move taking this Walkervale State School prep photo so close to a playground!

Teachers did their very best for the photos, but sometimes a little sun peeking through the clouds can ruin a photo like it did for these blinded little Bundaberg West State School preps.

Cheeky gins and clown faces were the rage at Oakwood State School.

Sometimes the best out-take comes from one student doing their very best to take the class photo seriously like this charming photo from Wallaville State School.

This Yandaran State School prep student might have been the only one in his class but he definitely stole the show with this cheeky face.
