Bundaberg 2023 school captains revealed

The Bundaberg region’s 2023 school captains and leaders have been revealed as they share their goals for the coming year, and their life plans.

With ambitious goals and visions for 2023, the Fraser Coast’s schools are in good hands with this year’s leaders.

A new school year has introduced a new generation of leaders across the Bundaberg region, with a range of goals and ambitions for the future.

Join us as we celebrate these inspiring students taking their first steps in leadership roles.

Avoca State School

Executive Captain: Logan, 11

When he grows up Logan wants to work at a zoo, and hopefully own one, later down the track. He would love to work with animals everyday, especially reptiles.

Logan wanted to be school captain because it is a role that allows him to help people and he likes putting other people first.

As captain, he hopes to be acknowledged for the good work he does helping other people and improving the school.

What he loves most about his school is that the teachers are very helpful. He also loves hanging out with his friends.

Logan plays Rugby and is very good at maths.

Executive Captain: Sofia, 11

Sofia loves drawing and being creative. She loves to express her ideas out loud and loves a good giggle.

Sofia was influenced to become school captain by the help and support the previous captains gave her, and wanted to be able to do the same for her peers and future school leaders.

As captain, she wants to help others in the best way possible and be a kind, friendly and approachable face that everyone feels comfortable with.

Sofia loves her school and how the teachers are helpful, kind and give them a lot of support.
Executive Captain: Harry, 11

When he grows up, Harry wants to be a police officer.

Harry wanted to be school captain because he really wanted to help others and make people happy.

As captain, he hopes to make his school an even better place for all.

At his school, he loves seeing everyone have fun and learning new things as well as making new friends.

Mary loves the ocean, and would like to be a marine biologist when she grows up.

Mary wanted to be school captain because she wanted the younger students to look up to her and inspire them to be better and future school leaders.

As captain, she wants to be known as a leader that looks out for people, cares for others and will try her best no matter what.

What she loves most about her school is that all her teachers and peers are supportive and will lend a helping hand when in need.

Captain: Cyrus, 11

When he grows up, Cyrus would love to work in technology and be a game creator or tester.

Cyrus wanted to be school captain to be a role model and inspire other kids to work hard and be great, successful students.

As captain, he wants to be known as a good leader and gain everyone’s respect.

Cyrus love the layout of his school.

“It’s easy to navigate and looks really nice,” he said.

He also likes that the teachers are helpful and encourage them to achieve their goals.

Captain: Nicholas, 11 

When he grows up, Nicholas would like to work in game programming, or just programming.

Nicholas wanted to be school captain to help people and help improve his school.

As captain, Nicholas would like to help the school get better facilities and help children learn more and enjoy their time at school.

What he loves most about his school is how much he learns. Nicholas also plays cello and tennis.

Captain: Isla, 10

When she grows up, Isla would love to be an Auslan translator or a teacher.

Isla has always wanted to become a school captain because she loves to help her fellow peers and represent her school with pride.

As captain, she hopes to be known as a kind and caring person to all students and staff.

What she loves most about her school is how all the teachers and staff are so supportive. She also loves that the lollipop ladies are so lovely and keep everyone safe.

Captain: Sally, 11

Sally is trying to save money to visit her best friend who lives on Thursday Island.

When Sally saw her older brother wear a school leadership badge, she knew she wanted to be a positive role model and leader for her school.

As captain, she wants to take on more responsibilities and to help more people.

She loves that the teachers at her school understand her needs and make work easier.

She would love to make the Australian Olympic team as a gymnast when she grows up.

Olivia is a fun and creative person who is willing to take on the most complicated of roles and be friends with everyone.

Olivia wanted to become school captain after the previous school leaders inspired her to take on the role. As captain, she would like to help guide others and to achieve more leadership skills.

What Olivia loves most about her school is how kind, friendly and generous the students, teachers and staff are.

When she grows up, Olivia would like to work as a part time waitress and a full-time mother.

Sports Captain: Samuel Rudduck, 10

When he grows up, Samuel hopes to become a design engineer.

Samuel wanted to become a sports captain because he enjoys athletic challenges.

 As captain, he would like to encourage younger students to achieve their athletic goals.

What he loves most about his school is that the students get cheered on for trying their best, and the teachers are encouraging.

Tara describes herself as a chatterbox and likes to be everyone’s best buddy.

Tara wanted to become the Project Club president because she is kind, helpful and make all of the kids laugh.

As president, she hopes to help organise lots of events, like movie nights and free dress days.

Tara loves that her school has wonderful teachers and that she has a lot of good friends.

When she grows up, Tara wants to be a teacher so that she can teach kids, and help them learn anything they want.

As captain, she wants to see that all students have a great year.

As captain, she hopes to make sure that all the children in her sporting house have a really fun time while playing sports and that her team will win trophies.

Indie loves the play spaces and classrooms at her school that are big and well designed. She is very sporty and would like to get to representative level this year.

Mannan Shoree is a great school leader because he follows the school rules and works hard in work experience.

His favourite subjects are maths and computers.

He enjoys singing and playing the guitar and piano.

When he finishes school, he would like to get a job mowing lawns.

He loves going to TAFE, work experience and playing football.

Jeffery is a great school leader because he is a good friend and puts the school flags up each morning. When he finishes school, he wants to get a job with his friends.

jasmine wants to represent the school and be a good role model. She hopes to introduce some new things to the school including lunchtime activities.

She loves the most about the school – the students and the staff.

Ava, who is the sports house Captain for Koala, has always wanted to become a leader and wants to help everyone and help students at her school.

When she grows up, she would love to be an artist or an architect because she loves art and designing.

She has represented North Burnett in Cricket and Isis Tigers in Cricket and AFL. Her favourite sport is Cricket, Soccer, Basketball and AFL.

Joshua Ohlson, 11

Joshua likes swimming and playing basketball and softball, and loves being outside, bike riding and playing in the dam with his dog, Mini.

Joshua wanted to be a leader because he likes helping kids to achieve their sport and personal goals.

Jaylee wanted to be school captain so she could help other students.

What she loves most about her school is that everyone helps each other.

When she grows up, she would like to be a business owner.

Billie Teefy, 10

Billie wanted to be school captain, because she likes helping kids and being a role model.

As captain, she wants to inspire younger students to help others, be kind and share.

What she loves most about her school is that the students are very kind and helpful and that there is a lot of extra-curricular activities to participate in.

Billie was recently selected for the Bundaberg District netball team and also plays cricket.

Indiana Sidey, 11

Indiana wanted to be school captain because she likes to speak in public and wants to be a good role model.

As captain, she hopes to continue being a good role model.

Indiana loves that everyone who attends her school is kind.

When she grows up, she would like to be a photographer.

Indiana is also good at drawing sunsets with oil pastels.

Kayden Whitford-Little, 10

Kayden wanted to be school captain so he could help other students.

As captain, he wants to make his school even better by helping other students.

What he loves most about his school is guitar club.

When he grows up, he would like to be a biologist.

Kayden likes chess and competes against other schools in chess tournaments.

Emmaleesa always wanted to be school captain because she enjoys taking on extra responsibilities and would like to help others.

As school captain wants to improve her leadership skills and become more confident, as well as being a great leader to be remembered by.

She loves that her school, is small but feels like one big family.

Emmaleesa loves surfing, sports and is a “mad” Canberra Raiders Fan. She is also learning to play the violin.

What he loves most about his school are the fantastic learning opportunities.

When he grows up, Hayden wants to be either a NBL player or a scientist. Hayden also loves playing basketball and cricket.

Jude, 11

Jude wanted to become school captain to help make a positive difference within his school. He also wanted to read the names of the Students of the Week on parade.

As captain, he hopes to bring new ideas to the school and to be someone the students can look up to.

What he loves most about his school are the great learning opportunities.

When he grows up, Jude wants to be either an artist or a scientist.

As captain, he hopes to make the younger students feel comfortable about talking to him when they need help or want to chat.

Emu Sports Captain: Alexander, 11

When Alexander grows up, he wants to run an orphanage to look after children who don’t have families. He also wants to be an author and write Christian novels.

Alexander wanted to become a house captain because his teacher said it would be good practice for future leadership roles.

He would like to be school captain next year.

As captain, he wants to make flags for the two sports houses (Emus and Kangaroos) and make fun challenges for the other students.

School Captain: Alice, 11

Alice wanted to become school captain so that she could have the opportunity to create change and be a positive influence on those around her.

As captain, she wants to achieve things such as changing the colour of the playground or adding something new to it.

What she loves most about her school is that it has a warm community feel because everyone knows each other.

When she grows up, Alice would like to be an architect.

School Captain: Cody Muller

Cody wanted to become school captain because it was an opportunity to help people and to leave a legacy and impact on his college. As captain, Cody is excited to watch the school and the students grow, and to encourage the students to try their best.

School Captain: Alice Daniels

Alice was drawn to captaincy role because she wanted to be a positive influence on the school and was really excited to plan new exciting events and activities throughout the year.

She hopes to bring an optimistic outlook a positive mindset into her role. She is a big people person, who enjoys collaborating with people and being part of a team.

Vice-Captain: Lily Mason

Lily wanted to be vice-captain because she wanted to have positive influence and impact on others, and was excited to nurture the connections with both students and teachers the role can facilitate.

She loves that her school is a close community of like-minded leaders and students and is looking forward to representing them at the 2023 Compass Conference as well as other school and prefect events, this year.

Vice-Captain: Angus Rehbein

Angus wanted to be vice-captain so he could serve his school community and help others within it. As vice-captain, he hopes to be a helping hand to any student at the college.

Angus is looking forward to the 2023 BCC Festival which is a showcase of the school to the Bundaberg community.

Benjamin, 17

After Benjamin graduates, he wants to pursue a career in sports and study exercise science.

Benjamin wanted to be school captain for the responsibility to represent the school and set an example.

He loves that his school is a small community, and hopes that, as captain, he can help all students come together and get to know each other.

Benjamin has recently received a gold medal at the Queensland School State Triathlon Championships, and is described to be a born leader with a strong work ethic.

Sienna is planning to be a vet and eventually work overseas in different places. She plans to study at either UQ in Gatton, or Townsville.

Sienna wanted to become a leader so she could give back to her school, and hopes to lead with pride and be a role model for younger students.

As captain, she hopes to give the students at her school the most enjoyable year possible.

What she loves most about her school is the community aspect, where she feels that it is like one big supportive family.

Sienna’s teachers describe her as a quiet achiever.

Molly wanted to become school captain after she has always been inspired to lead.

As captain, she hopes to make a difference in her schools community, by positively guiding, influencing, and inspiring others within the community.

What Molly loves most about her school is the community, where she has experienced a sense of belong and acceptance.

Molly’s dream has always been to study medicine, but recently she has also been considering a career in secondary education.

Cooper Leeson, 17

Cooper wanted to become school captain to be a role model that others can count on.

As captain, he hopes to inspire and encourage his peers, priding himself in making sure each student feels seen and included.

What Cooper loves most about his school is the sense of togetherness within its community.

After graduating, Cooper hopes to serve in the air force, and then study either law or medicine at university.
