A new school year has introduced a new generation of leaders across the Bundaberg region, with a range of goals and ambitions for the future.

Avoca State School
Executive Captain: Logan, 11
Logan wanted to be school captain because it is a role that allows him to help people and he likes putting other people first.
As captain, he hopes to be acknowledged for the good work he does helping other people and improving the school.
What he loves most about his school is that the teachers are very helpful. He also loves hanging out with his friends.
Logan plays Rugby and is very good at maths.
Executive Captain: Sofia, 11
Sofia was influenced to become school captain by the help and support the previous captains gave her, and wanted to be able to do the same for her peers and future school leaders.
As captain, she wants to help others in the best way possible and be a kind, friendly and approachable face that everyone feels comfortable with.
Sofia loves her school and how the teachers are helpful, kind and give them a lot of support.
Executive Captain: Harry, 11
Harry wanted to be school captain because he really wanted to help others and make people happy.
As captain, he hopes to make his school an even better place for all.
At his school, he loves seeing everyone have fun and learning new things as well as making new friends.

Mary wanted to be school captain because she wanted the younger students to look up to her and inspire them to be better and future school leaders.
As captain, she wants to be known as a leader that looks out for people, cares for others and will try her best no matter what.
What she loves most about her school is that all her teachers and peers are supportive and will lend a helping hand when in need.
Captain: Cyrus, 11
Cyrus wanted to be school captain to be a role model and inspire other kids to work hard and be great, successful students.
As captain, he wants to be known as a good leader and gain everyone’s respect.
Cyrus love the layout of his school.
“It’s easy to navigate and looks really nice,” he said.
He also likes that the teachers are helpful and encourage them to achieve their goals.
Captain: Nicholas, 11
Nicholas wanted to be school captain to help people and help improve his school.
As captain, Nicholas would like to help the school get better facilities and help children learn more and enjoy their time at school.
What he loves most about his school is how much he learns. Nicholas also plays cello and tennis.

Isla has always wanted to become a school captain because she loves to help her fellow peers and represent her school with pride.
As captain, she hopes to be known as a kind and caring person to all students and staff.
What she loves most about her school is how all the teachers and staff are so supportive. She also loves that the lollipop ladies are so lovely and keep everyone safe.
Captain: Sally, 11
When Sally saw her older brother wear a school leadership badge, she knew she wanted to be a positive role model and leader for her school.
As captain, she wants to take on more responsibilities and to help more people.
She loves that the teachers at her school understand her needs and make work easier.
She would love to make the Australian Olympic team as a gymnast when she grows up.

Captain: Olivia Vaughan, 10
Olivia wanted to become school captain after the previous school leaders inspired her to take on the role. As captain, she would like to help guide others and to achieve more leadership skills.
What Olivia loves most about her school is how kind, friendly and generous the students, teachers and staff are.
When she grows up, Olivia would like to work as a part time waitress and a full-time mother.
Sports Captain: Samuel Rudduck, 10
Samuel wanted to become a sports captain because he enjoys athletic challenges.
As captain, he would like to encourage younger students to achieve their athletic goals.
What he loves most about his school is that the students get cheered on for trying their best, and the teachers are encouraging.
Project Club President: Tara, 10
Tara wanted to become the Project Club president because she is kind, helpful and make all of the kids laugh.
As president, she hopes to help organise lots of events, like movie nights and free dress days.
Tara loves that her school has wonderful teachers and that she has a lot of good friends.
When she grows up, Tara wants to be a teacher so that she can teach kids, and help them learn anything they want.
Bundaberg North State School
School Captain: Lucy, 11
Lucy wanted to be a school captain after watching the previous leaders, and thought she had the skills for the role.
As captain, she wants to see that all students have a great year.
Lucy feels her school is a great place, where everyone looks after each other and the kids are friendly.
Lucy likes to play music, and plays basketballs in her backyard.
School Captain: Drew, 11
Drew wanted to become school captain because many of his family members have been leaders and he wanted to give it his best try.
As captain, he wants to make sure that he represents all students at his school.

Scarlett wanted to become school captain because she likes helping others.

Sports Captain: Chelsea, 11
Chelsea wanted to be a school leader after her friends were leaders last year and I thought she would give it a go.
As sports captain, she wants to make sure her sporting house, Topaz, has a big win this year.
What Chelsea loves most about her school is the friends that she has made and that have supported her.
Sports Captain: Lacojha, 10
Lacojha wanted to be sports captain, so she could follow in her mum and auntie’s footsteps.
As captain, she wants her team, Sapphire, to win at least one of the trophies this year.
What she loves most about her school is the help she gets from her friends and teachers.
Sports Captain: Indie, 11
Indie wanted to be a sports captain, because it is her passion.
As captain, she hopes to make sure that all the children in her sporting house have a really fun time while playing sports and that her team will win trophies.
Indie loves the play spaces and classrooms at her school that are big and well designed. She is very sporty and would like to get to representative level this year.

Jermaine wanted to become school captain because he always tries to be a helper and leader for his friends and family.

Captain: Connor Fischer, 10
Connor wanted to be school captain to represent his school rules and help others achieve their goals.
As captain, he hopes to gain more maturity and help guide others to the right path.
Connor loves that making new friends at his school is easy and that all of the staff are very helpful.
When Connor grows up, he would love to be an astronaut.
Captain: Ava Draper, 11
Ava wanted to become school captain because she loves helping people and setting a great example.
As captain, she hopes to help students excel and enjoy their time at school.
Ava loves how her school has a close and supportive community and that everyone accepts each other for who they are.

He hopes to be a successful sports leader, and loves that everyone at his school is always there to help.

Mannan Shoree is a great school leader because he follows the school rules and works hard in work experience.
His favourite subjects are maths and computers.
He enjoys singing and playing the guitar and piano.
When he finishes school, he would like to get a job mowing lawns.

Caine Mudge is a great school leader because he helps his friends and follows the school rules.
He loves going to TAFE, work experience and playing football.

Bailey McNab is a great school leader because he works hard in class and sets a good example to the younger kids at his school.

Jeffery is a great school leader because he is a good friend and puts the school flags up each morning. When he finishes school, he wants to get a job with his friends.

jasmine wants to represent the school and be a good role model. She hopes to introduce some new things to the school including lunchtime activities.
She loves the most about the school – the students and the staff.
She wants to be an astronaut, marine biologist or a vet.

Ebony wants to be a good role model and help others.
She loves the school as all of her family have come to this school and they have all been captains of the school.
She wants to be an Olympic gymnast or a Principal when she grows up.

Lillian Argent, 10
Lillian wanted be school captain because she wanted to follow in her parent’s footsteps, and has always looked up to the school captains.
She hopes to inspire students like she was inspired by the previous captains and wants to be someone the younger students can look up to and strive to be like.
Lillian loves that the school offers many opportunities and activities to its students.
Summer Patchett, 11
Summer wanted be school captain because she wanted to be a role model who helps and inspires the kids at her school.
As captain, she hopes that the students see the pride she has for her school, and wants to lead the way for future leaders to follow.
Summer loves how, at her school, the teachers are very engaged with their students, helping and guiding them to be the best they can be.
Caleb Zorzan, 11
Caleb wanted be school captain because he wanted to be a role model for the younger students.
As captain, he hopes to show the Branyan Way to all of the younger kids at his school so that they can rise up and meet expectations.
Caleb loves that his school gives many opportunities for learning and sport, and that the teachers understand his humour.

Lacey loves the students and the teachers, as well as the additional activities available at her school, such as the art club and prep buddies.

As captain, he hopes to help people and have a good reputation.

Oliver moved to Childers State School, from a school he did not enjoy being at, so by being school captain, he wants to give back to his school and make others feel welcome, just as he did.
As captain, he wants to help kids enjoy coming to school.

Sophie wanted to be school captain because she wanted to help people more and to represent her school as a leader.

She loves that there are many different activities to participate in at her school, such as sports and music. Sophie also plays violin and piano.

In her spare time, Gracee loves to paint, draw, play violin and play sports.

As a leader, she hopes to be more helpful and set a good example to others around the school. She loves her school because of the people, environment and the support from the teachers to keep going.

Breanna wanted to become leader so they could help others reach their goals and do their very best.
She hopes to be good role model and make lots of good memories at their school.
Breanna loves how their school has provided them with awesome learning and sporting opportunities.
Stephanie McGibbon, 11
Stephanie wanted to be a leader so she could help kids achieve their best and for the opportunity to represent her school.
She hopes to be a good sport leader for her school, and will do this by showing good sportsmanship.
Stephanie has represented her school in different sports like AFL and soccer.
When she grows up, she would love to work at a Lamborghini dealership or a zoo.
Ava Fankhauser, 11
Ava, who is the sports house Captain for Koala, has always wanted to become a leader and wants to help everyone and help students at her school.
When she grows up, she would love to be an artist or an architect because she loves art and designing.
She has represented North Burnett in Cricket and Isis Tigers in Cricket and AFL. Her favourite sport is Cricket, Soccer, Basketball and AFL.
Joshua Ohlson, 11
Joshua wanted to be a leader because he likes helping kids to achieve their sport and personal goals.
He loves his school because it has kind people with amazing students and teachers.
Joshua wants to be a vet when he is older because he likes helping animals.
Shylah Talbot, 11
Shylah wanted to become a leader is that she could help other students.
As a leader, she hopes to be a good role model for other students and build good memories.
She love that, at her school, there is always someone there for you and that staff and teachers are very nice.
Shylah has also represented North Burnett in cricket.
Elliott Heads State School

Jaylee wanted to be school captain so she could help other students.
As captain, she hopes to be a good role model and continue helping students as needed.
What she loves most about her school is that everyone helps each other.
When she grows up, she would like to be a business owner.

What she loves most about her school is that the students are very kind and helpful and that there is a lot of extra-curricular activities to participate in.
Billie was recently selected for the Bundaberg District netball team and also plays cricket.

Lily wanted to be vice-captain because she wanted to have positive influence and impact on others, and was excited to nurture the connections with both students and teachers the role can facilitate.
She loves that her school is a close community of like-minded leaders and students and is looking forward to representing them at the 2023 Compass Conference as well as other school and prefect events, this year.

Angus wanted to be vice-captain so he could serve his school community and help others within it. As vice-captain, he hopes to be a helping hand to any student at the college.
Angus is looking forward to the 2023 BCC Festival which is a showcase of the school to the Bundaberg community.

Benjamin, 17
Benjamin wanted to be school captain for the responsibility to represent the school and set an example.
He loves that his school is a small community, and hopes that, as captain, he can help all students come together and get to know each other.
Benjamin has recently received a gold medal at the Queensland School State Triathlon Championships, and is described to be a born leader with a strong work ethic.
Sienna, 17
Sienna wanted to become a leader so she could give back to her school, and hopes to lead with pride and be a role model for younger students.
As captain, she hopes to give the students at her school the most enjoyable year possible.
What she loves most about her school is the community aspect, where she feels that it is like one big supportive family.

What Molly loves most about her school is the community, where she has experienced a sense of belong and acceptance.
Molly’s dream has always been to study medicine, but recently she has also been considering a career in secondary education.
Cooper Leeson, 17
Cooper wanted to become school captain to be a role model that others can count on.
As captain, he hopes to inspire and encourage his peers, priding himself in making sure each student feels seen and included.
What Cooper loves most about his school is the sense of togetherness within its community.
After graduating, Cooper hopes to serve in the air force, and then study either law or medicine at university.
