A young Gayndah man will be eligible for parole after he plead guilty to several charges of supplying drugs.

In the Bundaberg Supreme Court on Wednesday, Andrew Kevin Snaith pleaded guilty to six charges of supplying a dangerous drug, along with possession of dangerous drugs and obstructing a police officer.

The 27-year-old appeared from custody with what Crown prosecutor Christopher Cook a “significant criminal history,” including previous drug trafficking charges, drug offences, property offences and serious assault causing bodily harm.

The court heard Snaith was on probation for a previous assault offence, when he committed the supply offences which landed him in the Supreme court on Wednesday.

The court heard between January 26 and February 11, 2022, Snaith returned to the drug scene in Gayndah, where he was detected as part of an ongoing police operation.

The court heard police apprehended a “nervous and drug affected” Snaith on February 11, 2022 after they intercepted communications between himself and another person they suspected of drug activities.

“He was found in possession of cannabis, Viagra and back at the police station he was found with 10.59 grams of methamphetamines,” Mr Cook said.

The court heard Snaith had resisted the search but a CT scan revealed the 10.59 grams of methamphetamines was found “secreted between Snaith’s buttocks.”

Snaith had possession of the methamphetamines for commercial use, the court heard.

Snaith’s phone messages revealed his plans to return to the drug scene four short months after leaving prison following his previous arrest.

The court heard Snaith sent texts between previous drug associates saying; “I am going to do things differently this time” and “delete these messages”.

Snaith started taking drugs at 13 before he moved onto “hard drugs” at 16, the court heard.

Justice Graeme Crow called Snaith’s criminal history “concerning”, saying he had committed serious offending by supplying an “evil” drug.

“Drugs can cause you to throw your life away,” he said.

“Luckily you were caught, you’d get another five or six years if you weren’t caught so early.”

Snaith was sentenced to 18 months imprisonment with immediate eligibility for parole due to time served.
