A 22-year-old man has been charged with concealing a serious indictable offence following an ongoing investigation into a fatal shooting in Sydney’s south west earlier this year.
The arrest is in relation to the shooting that killed Comanchero bikie Omar Zahed outside an Auburn gym on May 10 this year. His brother, Tarek Zahed, managed to survive after also being hit.
Adam Ganaim, who is not suspected of being the shooter, was arrested at Sydney Domestic Terminal at 10.30pm on Christmas Eve and taken to Mascot Police Station.
Omar, 39, died at the scene, while his brother was taken to hospital where he received treatment and was later discharged.
Two Audi Q7 vehicles were later located on fire at Berala and Greenacre. Multiple crime scenes were established and examined by specialist forensic officers.
The matter was initially investigated by detectives from the State Crime Command’s Homicide Squad under Strike Force Leary and subsequently formed part of ongoing inquiries by Task Force Erebus into several fatal shootings and criminal activities by organised crime networks across Sydney.
Mr Ganam was refused bail and will appear before Parramatta Bail Court today.
