“Balenciaga Bikie” Tarek Zahed has been moved into Australia’s most secure prison after fears for his safety were raised while he was in Long Bay jail.
Zahed, who survived being shot 10 times in May, was quietly transferred to Goulburn Supermax on November 15.
His brother Omar died in the ambush at Bodyfit Gym in Auburn while their mother and other relatives were present.
Despite shots to the head and body Zahed was out of hospital and on the social scene within months, but was arrested in spectacular fashion on August 28 when the car he was travelling in had its windows shot out with “bean bag’’ pellets by NSW Police, who arrested him for the 2014 murder of Youssef Assoum, 29 at Bankstown.
Zahed is expected to apply for bail in the NSW Supreme Court on Monday. Another one of his brothers, Abdul, has also been charged with participating in the murder.
In Supermax, the Comanchero will join the likes of Brothers for Life boss Fahad Qami, Michael Ibrahim and some of Australia‘s most feared criminals.
Its believed Zahed will ask if he can reside in Melbourne if granted bail, where he spent a considerable amount of his time before being arrested.
He was famously caught on TV at the Australian Tennis Open disrupting play when arriving late to his seat.
By coincidence, Zahed’s close mate and Supreme Commander of the Comanchero Mark Buddle is also on remand in Melbourne.
Buddle’s high-flying lifestyle came crashing down when he was arrested in Cyprus and then deported to Turkey.
He was then given free airfare home courtesy of the Australian Federal Police, who charged him with a couple of counts of illegally importing drugs into the country.
Buddle is currently in a Melbourne prison, also under tight security, where it is said he has almost an entire prison wing to himself.
The former Maroubra boy is to face a committal hearing in the new year.
