A twisted pervert asked a 14-year-old girl if she wanted to “ride a naked cowboy”, however, the minor turned out to be an undercover cop.
David Andrew Jobson faced Lismore District Court on Friday to be sentenced.
The 55-year-old pleaded guilty to using a carriage service to procure a child for sexual activity and possessing child abuse material.
The court heard Jobson, of Ballina, believed he was messaging a 14-year-old girl, when he was actually speaking to an undercover police officer for a couple of weeks in July last year.
Judge Jonathan Priestley said the conversation involved discussing masturbation and sex before he read out the police facts.
The court heard Jobson asked “Would you like to ride a naked cowboy?” and “I want to taste your sweet young delicious pussy”.
He also said to the “girl”: “Would you like to lose your virginity this weekend?”
Jobson kept asking for a photo and said he wanted to see her have fun in Sydney, the court heard.
The offender was on his way to Wollongong when he was arrested in August, last year.
Jobson told police he did not believe the person he was speaking to was 14, the court heard.
Police found 33 items of child abuse material on Jobson’s phone, including images of men performing sexual offences on toddlers.
Judge Priestley said Jobson encouraged a person who he believed to be a naive 14-year-old girl to perform sex acts on her own, or with him.
“No actual meeting place was made,” the judge said.
“ (Jobson) wasn’t a part of a group in this conduct and he didn’t initiate any conversations apart from the first time they spoke.”
Regarding the child abuse material offence, Judge Priestley told the court police found images of toddlers with men ejaculating on them – and the fact Jobson possessed the images showed there was demand.
Judge Priestley said Jobson has “pedophilic tendencies” and no background of disadvantage besides from the “pedophilic condition”.
The court heard the offender has been diagnosed with autism.
The court heard Jobson told a psychologist: “In my brain, I should have realised looking at children was the wrong thing.”
“Someone has taken these photos, it’s sexual abuse,” he said.
Judge Priestley told the court Jobson was remorseful, endured humiliation and realised the “wrongness of what he was doing”.
“The offender is a straightforward, simple man – why he engaged in this conduct is not explained,” he said.
Jobson, who had spent 10 days in custody, was sentenced to a two-year suspended prison term and ordered to put forward a $500 recognisance to be of good behaviour for the three years.
The offender will be supervised by a probation officer for two years and must obey treatment and rehabilitation directions.
