POPULAR Darwin restaurants PM Eat & Drink and Frankie’s Pizza have closed their doors.
The two Darwin foodie favourites join a growing list of eateries — including Manoli’s Greek Tavern which closed its doors last month — which have shut down during the coronavirus pandemic,
But industry sources told the NT News that, unlike Manoli’s, owners of both Frankie’s and PM Eat & Drink, Alana and Ji Matthews, had been looking to sell the businesses prior to the coronavirus outbreak and have already moved interstate.

The NT News understands Frankies Pizza joint has been maintained by its staff who have been operating the restaurant as a takeaway venue during the coronavirus shutdowns.
It is possible PM Eat & Drink could also open under new management.
Hospitality NT chief executive Alex Bruce said it was always tough for Territory businesses to see others within the industry close.
“Every business we lose impacts the Territory’s entire hospitality family,” he said.
“We have worked with the Chief Minister’s office and his agencies to reach out to all in our sector to make sure they know of the help available but it is still rough going.
“Territorians have thrown their support behind their local and we hope this helps stem the loss of venues and jobs.”
PM Eat & Drink won the prestigious Hospitality NT Gold Plate Awards for ‘Best Select Wine List’ in 2017 and 2018 and received on of the NT’s Top 20 signature dishes for their NT Calamari, pico de gallo, chilli oil, beurre noisette.
