Doors opened at the Gold Coast’s newest ‘world-class’ seafood restaurant and feedback from customers say it was a success despite some setbacks.
Broadbeach veterans and owners of Moo Moo, Steven and Autumn Adams opened their newest venture called Blowfish Ocean Grill and Bar on Friday night.
The venue – which ended up being $1 million over budget due to extras added by the Adams – boasts 2000 wines and a 24-seater private dining room with an exclusive mezzanine dining area called The Ripple Room.
Ms Adams said their opening night was a success with more than 160 people dining in the restaurant and 150 people in the bar at all times from 2pm.
“Steven and I feel extremely relieved and excited, but now the hard work really begins,” she said.
Ms Adams said they had “amazing” feedback from those who dined with them.
“Everyone was blown away by the venue and were very happy and excited to be there,” she said.
“They were amazed with the upstairs dining area and the ‘Ripple Room’ private dining area.”
Ms Adams said after hours of working on perfectly their menu, it was nice to see it was received so well.
“We had lots of amazing feedback on the food with highlights being the Whole Black NZ Sole served at the table, the Classic Hervey Bay Prawn Cocktail, The Queensland Scallop and Moreton Bay bug Spring Rolls and the Red Emperor,” she said.
Ms Adams said while it was a successful night there was some hiccups which she said were expected for opening night.
“There were a few challenges and delays,” she said.
“The demand on our cocktail list put the bartenders to the test and did cause some delays.
“Night one is always a challenge, but it’s onwards and upwards from here on in and we can’t wait for locals and visitors to come and be blown away by Blowfish.”
Ms Adams said while they were heavily booked on Friday and Saturday nights, there was still room during the week.
“We are overwhelmed by the response and cannot thank our team enough,” she said.
“They went above and beyond to deliver the best experience we possibly could for our customers.”
