A former travel agent took more than $74,000 in people’s payments for holidays and used them for her own means, it will be alleged.
Roslyn Kamil Pilcher, who previously ran the Travel and Cruise Centre Runaway Bay, has been charged with 19 counts of fraud.
It will be alleged that between March 2018 and June 2018 the 74-year-old took about $74,204 in holiday payments from 19 different people for various vacations overseas and domestically.
They never saw the money again or the holidays, it will be alleged.
The alleged victims were aged between 23 and 85.
Pilcher, who now lives in Camberwell, Victoria, did not appear in Southport Magistrates Court when the charges were first heard on Wednesday.
Her lawyer asked the matter to be adjourned to June 29 when she is expected to appear.
A Queensland Police Service spokeswoman said complaints were made to police after the business went into liquidation in 2018.
Travel and Cruise Centre Runaway Bay closed suddenly in June 2018.
When the Bulletin visited in July 2018, the shop was shut and a sign advising the company was in liquidation had been placed on the door.
That month a creditors meeting was held by liquidators.
The report showed there were 47 people who said they booked and paid for cruises, flights and holidays.
