An American institution has opened on the Glitter Strip mixing views, an island bar and cocktails for some ‘Friday’ fun.

Famous for its ‘happy hour’ and loaded potato skins TGI Fridays has opened their first beachfront venue at Surfers Paradise.

The new venue is part of the $40 million Paradise Centre redevelopment which also features Wahlburgers and El Camino.

Signature Hospitality Group CEO James Sinclair said the 180-seat venue had arguably one of the best locations on the Coast.

“The island bar which we have built is the perfect pull-up spot overlooking the ocean,” he said.

Mr Sinclair said cocktails was at the front and centre for their new flagship store.
In 1965 TGI Fridays invented the ‘happy hour’ and Mr Sinclair said they continue to still have it every day between 4pm and 6pm with cocktails starting from $7.
He said their famous Long Island Iced Teas would be up for grabs and were taking claim to the Gold Coast’s best passionfruit margarita.

TGI Fridays Surfers Paradise opened at 10.30am on Thursday accompanied by cheerleaders and free fairy floss.

TGI Fridays will hand a free signature burger to the first 100 fans who line up outside the new restaurant on Saturday morning.

Giveaways for the kids including balloons twisters, gifts and face painting will be up for grabs on the Sunday.
Mr Sinclair said TGI Fridays and the Paradise Centre will give Surfers Paradise and the Gold Coast a much needed injection.

“We have hired 90 local team members who have been in training for the past two months,” he said.

“Surfers Paradise is the holiday mecca for Australia and the beach and warm weather is really well suited to have a vibrant bar environment.”
