Tolcys Thomas McCormick, 42, faces Brisbane Magistrates Court after hitting an elderly man

A man charged following the alleged assault of an 81-year-old man north of Brisbane has faced court.

A man accused of assaulting an 81-year-old man during an altercation at an address in Clontarf, north of Brisbane, has faced Brisbane Magistrates Court.

Tolcys Thomas McCormick was charged with one count of serious assault (person over 60) and briefly faced Brisbane Magistrates Court on Saturday.

He did not apply for bail but it is understood to be alleged McCormick said he didn‘t like pedophiles in relation to the incident. There was nothing to suggest the 81-year-old complainant was one

McCormick allegedly had a short conversation with the elderly man before striking him on the head and knocking him to the ground at a bus stop on Anzac Ave.

It is understood the men did not know each other.

McCormick told the court he was waiting for his parents to organise a lawyer and Magistrate Peter Saggers adjourned the matter to Redcliffe Magistrates Court for October 4.
