Teen flown to after near-drowning incident at Rainbow Beach

A teenage girl has been rescued by her friends and flown to hospital after a near-drowning incident at Rainbow Beach.

The RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter pilot landed the aircraft on the beach, where the aeromedical crew met with Queensland Ambulance Service paramedics to treat the teen girl.

A teenager has been flown to hospital after coming close to drowning at Rainbow Beach on Thursday.

It’s believed the teenage girl had been swimming with a group of friends when the incident occurred.

Her friends were reportedly able to help her back to shore, before emergency services arrived.

The rescue chopper was called to assist just after 4.30pm.

The RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter pilot landed the aircraft on the beach, where the aeromedical crew met with Queensland Ambulance Service paramedics to treat the teen girl.

She was flown to Sunshine Coast University Hospital in a stable condition, under the supervision of the RACQ LifeFlight Rescue doctor.
