A teenager who broke into a Darwin sex shop before being busted stark naked by police has faced court. Read what items police caught him with.

Elton Harris faced court over a break-in at Sexyland in Stuart Park where he was caught stark naked by police.

A teenager who broke into a Darwin sex shop and stole almost $2000 worth of sex toys and “sexual enhancement products”, including a “large life-size silicone buttocks”, before being found stark naked by police has faced court.

Elton Harris, 18, appeared in Darwin Local Court charged with damage to property, unlawful entry and stealing after being arrested by police on December 30 inside Sexyland.

He pleaded guilty to all three charges after Judge Alan Woodcock denied an application from Harris’ lawyer Patrick McNally to close the court.

The court heard Harris broke into Sexyland at Stuart Park about 12.30am after repeatedly striking the front door with a “donkey kick motion”, causing it to shatter.

He then perused the aisles before stealing a “large life-size silicone buttocks”, a “silicone Fleshlight” and a lubricant canister and leaving the store with them.

Harris returned shortly after without the items, which were later recovered by police.

He took a number of pornographic magazines and other items “used to enhance solo sex” before setting them up, removing his clothing and proceeding to “pleasure himself using various silicone and inflatable sex toys”.

The court heard police arrived at Sexyland just before 1am, startling Harris, who “ceased his conduct immediately and attempted to redress himself” before he was arrested inside the store.

“As a result of the offending, the victim suffered loss, having to destroy the stock that had been interfered with, soiled and damaged,” prosecutor Daniel Warner-Collins said.

The total value of products stolen or damaged, which included an inflatable doll, was $1979.80, while the damage to the store’s front door was worth more than $1500.

Mr McNally, for Harris, said the teenager, who the court heard was intoxicated at the time of the break-in, had “sought some sensation”.

Darwin Local Court heard Harris stole almost $2000 worth of sex toys and “sexual enhancement products” before being found naked by police.

“He’s a young man, he’s quite inexperienced with his grog,” Mr McNally said.

“This is going to follow him around.

“News of this outrage is going to be pretty closely stuck to him.”

Mr McNally said Harris had “been watching a bit of porn” before the break-in.

Mr Woodcock ordered a supervision assessment and remanded Harris in custody.

He will be sentenced on January 6.
