A man has been left shaken after a two vehicle crash on the corner of Aplin Street and Grafton Street in the Cairns CBD on Sunday night.
Witnesses told The Cairns Post of a two-vehicle crash at the intersection where a ute clipped a sedan, causing it to crash into a traffic light.
“I heard a couple of big bangs and saw one car crash into a traffic light pole. The other car drove off without stopping,” the witness said.
The male driver of one car was extricated with the help of bystanders.
“He looked pretty shaken, but otherwise OK,” the witness said.
It is not known if emergency services were called to the incident.
It follows a separate incident earlier on Sunday where a woman in her 70s was transported to hospital in a stable condition after her vehicle crashed into a pole in Woree.
