A man in his 20s has died after being found in a Cairns waterfall on Sunday afternoon.

Queensland Ambulance Service and Queensland Fire and Emergency Services crews responded to reports a person had fallen into the water at Isabella Falls about 3.30pm.

There were reports bystanders started CPR on the patient before emergency services arrived on scene.

A QFES spokesman confirmed two crews had arrived at the falls, with another three on the way.

“Our crews have only just arrived on scene to reports someone’s fallen in the water,” the spokesman said.

Police on Monday confirmed the death of a 26-year-old international man.

The man was found unresponsive in the water.

Emergency services conducted CPR but the man could not be revived.

It’s believed the man was visiting from Israel.

Police are treating the death as non suspicious.

It follows a previous incident in December 2023, where 17-year-old Christian Laksa died after falling from the waterfall.

Isabella Falls, located in a residential area at Edmonton, is known for slippery and dangerous rocks.

Edmonton residents have previously called for the end of public access to the dangerous waterfall following the death of a 19-year-old woman in 2022.

At the time of Mr Laska’s death in 2023, Edmonton residents said while the council had put signs around the area, people continued to swim at their own risk.

“The council put up a sign down there after the last one saying this area is not looked after by the council, you go at your own risk, people have died here,” one resident, who wished to remain anonymous, said.

The residents said people didn’t know about the waterfall until someone put it up on social media.

“Now everybody comes in but it’s too dangerous,” residents said.

“I wish I knew someone who could pull it down, pull it off the social media because honestly it’s just dreadful.”
