Train delays after false bridge strike alert at Milton

Train services in Brisbane were delayed again today after a false bridge strike alert.

Rail bridge damaged in truck strike

Train services in Brisbane were again delayed today as a result of a false bridge strike alert.

TransLink reported a strike alert at Cribb St in Milton shortly after 9am.

A Queensland Rail spokeswoman said that only one service was delayed as a result.

“While Queensland Rail received a bridge strike alert, upon reviewing CCTV footage it was not,” a spokesperson said.

“It is unknown what trigged the alert system to go off.

“One train service was delayed as the CCTV was reviewed.”

Meanwhile, services were temporarily suspended between Hemmant and Manly following a reported track fault at Wynnum Central station about 8.20am.

“We had to temporarily suspend some services between Hemmant and Manly while we reviewed the damage,” a Queensland Rail spokeswoman said.

“We were able to keep services running on one track through there.

“As a result of having to run services on one track, we’ve got residual delays of up to 30 minutes for customers running on the Cleveland line.

“We do expect that it will be fixed up by 10.30am and that is when we hope to resume normal operations on the Cleveland line.”

On Monday, a truck crashed into a rail bridge at Corinda, causing services on the Ipswich and Springfield lines to be impacted, with delays of up to 60 minutes in both directions. Multiple services were also cancelled.
