As we approach the homestretch of the Women’s Div. 1 (WD1) regular season, how have the intrastate, interstate, and international players faired?
With 14 players from as far south as Tasmania, as far west as Perth and even a trio from overseas, it’s fair to say more than a handful have been nothing but stellar signings.
While some have tested their hand at the men’s grade and Sunday competition, others have been tearing it up in the Women’s competition solely, terrorising locals and fellow interstaters alike.
Head of clubs and competitions for Cricket NT Karl Mayne said back in February that the rationale for the Female Interstate Player Program was more than just about club recruitment.
“It’s about building a sustainable, competitive and inspiring environment for women and girls to play cricket in the NT,” Mayne said.
“A key driver of this evolution is NT Cricket’s commitment to growing female participation, providing clear pathways for player progression, and developing local talent.
“On the field the players will contribute to a higher standard of play and will challenge and accelerate the growth of NT’s emerging talent by exposing them to experienced players.”
Below is a deep dive into each player that’s joined or returned for season 2025 as part of the program
*Stats are accurate as of July 13, 2025.

Info: A demon with the Kookaburra – a career total 131 wickets in as many matches – the left-handed quick has been the out and out bowling star of the WD1. Still a youngster, Caldow is adding to her already impressive resume every time she takes to the field. Boasting an average just over 10 in WD1, she has proven herself to be a threat no matter the divisions, with wickets in every grade bar B. Caldow has three five wicket hauls to her name and a hat-trick. Additionally, Caldow has clearly been improving her batting, upping her average to 20 from 16.

Info: Daughter of the Australian Test side’s batting coach and Tasmania Tigers legend Michael, Di Venuto has been a stellar pick up for the Den. From Clarence, the all-rounder has been on fire with the bat, and is second overall on the runs tally for WD1. So far the Cricket Tasmania Pathways player has dwarfed her career average with the bat (17.79) and has made the highest score to date (108). On top of this, the WD1 captain regularly chips in with four overs of offies a match, going at an overall average of 27.33.

Info: An uber consistent player, the top order bat has been a big in for Palmerston. With just four scores under 20 through all grades, boasting a monster strike rate, it’s not just her efforts with the willow that have impressed. McSweeney is also very good in the field; seven wicket involvements to go with seven poles across all grades.
