Woolworths to give away free cakes and sweets to Queenslanders

To celebrate its new and reformulated range of cakes, cookies, muffins and desserts, Woolworths is giving away thousands of sweet treats for free. Find out where you can get yours.

Their cakes have been going viral on social media and even actor Chris Hemsworth is a fan, now Woolworths is giving Queenslanders the chance to taste them for free.

The supermarket giant has created the “Bake Away Van”, which will hit the road this week giving the public the chance to try some of their 150 new and reformulated cakes, cookies, muffins, and baked desserts, including the $29 chocolate drip cake Hemsworth used to celebrate his recent birthday.

“From full product reformulations to simple tweaks in ingredients and packaging, the changes to the range are all about ensuring our customers can put showstopping desserts and treats on the table, without the extra preparation time or breaking the budget,” said Donald Keith, Woolworths merchandise manager for bakery.

The van will give away thousands of treats this Thursday, Friday and Saturday, stopping in at Brisbane’s Wintergarden in the CBD, followed by Sunshine Plaza at Maroochydore and finishing at Pacific Fair on the Gold Coast.

On offer will be everything from lemon meringue tarts and choc chunk cookie pies to chocolate smash cakes and carrot muffins.

“We’ve worked hard for more than 18 months so customers can experience the great taste, quality and value our new range delivers,” said Mr Keith.
