WHAT happens when you bring together a Brisbane pastry king with one of the city’s best cake makers?
You get Brass Tacks – a fabulous new bakery and deli from coveted cake artisan Catherine Marot of Lady Bouchon, and Isaac Hull, behind acclaimed baked goods store Pie Hole.
Due to open in the exciting upcoming culinary precinct Craft’d Grounds in Albion, in Brisbane’s north, the sweet and savoury paradise brings the two pastry chefs together after 14 years of friendship.
“Each of our styles are quite similar. We’re all about making our products taste as good as they look – reflecting incredible flavours in a creative, one-of-a-kind aesthetic,” Ms Marot said.
In addition to the pair’s highly sought after cakes, pies and tarts, Brass Tacks will offer a fabulous range of cheeses and charcuterie, which can be taken home or eaten in, as well as salads, sandwiches, croissants and provisions.
“Brisbane has a great selection of bakeries and delis, but with the many aisles of
imported goods – it can feel completely overwhelming,” Ms Marot said.
“We wanted to do things differently – curating a selection of local, regional and Australian-only products, alongside our in-house made baked goods.”
Brass Tacks is due to open at the end of the year and will join brewery and craft bottle shop BrewTide, Seven Miles specialty roaster and coffee shop and a French restaurant, wine and cocktail bar in the Craft’d Grounds precinct.
