ARIA award-winning DJs, VIP booths and one of Australia’s largest mirror balls – stage two of Brisbane’s $9m GPO renovation is set to be officially revealed this week.
The mega makeover of the heritage-listed Fortitude Valley site kicked off with the launch of high-end restaurant TAMA and 1920s-themed bar The Gatsby last month, now the classic, downstairs corner bar and new late night space, The Tax Office, will open this Friday.
“The Tax Office is a venue that you can start in the early afternoon, have a couple of drinks, maybe have some food, share a wine and some tapas with your friends and family and then you can go all the way through into the late night offering through to 3am,” said Artesian Hospitality’s managing director Matt Keegan.
The space will include a dedicated DJ area, dance floor, private booths, mezzanine level with exclusive seating, personalised bottle service and one of Australia’s largest mirror balls measuring around 2m in diameter.
It will also have its own dedicated kitchen run by ex-Rockpool Group chef Richard Harris, serving share-style and main dishes such as beef ribs, grilled prawns, sesame-crusted barramundi, carbonara and steak; alongside a diverse drinks offering of premium champagne, wine, beer and cocktails.
But the big focus will be on the late-night entertainment, including Aria award-winning DJ Sgt Slick launching the venue this weekend.
“After dark when the lights go down the entertainment is really going to ramp up, so you can expect to see people popping champagne in booths, people sitting at tables enjoying parties with friends and we’ll have a lot of entertainment whether that’s live saxophonists or entertainment from DJs,” said Mr Keegan.
