It was once crowned Queensland’s No. 1 cafe, now The Jam Pantry in Brisbane’s Greenslopes is expanding, launching a new sister eatery.
Waho Cafe will open next week in Stones Corner, just up the road from its sibling, serving breakfast and lunch dishes all built around waffles.
“We’ve had over 20 waffles in the last three years at The Jam Pantry and people always ask when am I going to bring a certain waffle back, so I thought, why don’t we open a place that just does waffles,” owner Victor Chan said.
The restaurateur said all the waffles would be gluten-free, making them suitable for coeliacs, with plenty of savoury as well as sweet options available including a red velvet version with crispy bacon, chorizo, poached eggs and a maple cream cheese dressing, as well as another with gluten-free fried chicken.
Classics with waffles will also be on the menu, such as an eggs Benedict and a big breakfast, plus a spinach and cheese waffle The Jam Pantry served three years ago that customers have been begging to return ever since.
Waho – short for “waffle house” – will move into Stoneham St in Stones Corner and feature about 30 seats inside and out, with Supreme coffee on pour alongside the waffles.
